Magazine “Romano Centro:

Since 1993 Romano Centro has published a
bilingual magazine in Romanes and German. It appears quarterly in a
print-run of approximately 1,600 copies. The magazine is sent to
members of the association in Austria and abroad. It publishes
information on national and international affairs, while topical
issues are in part dealt with by guest writers. The magazine’s
coverage also includes Roma literature, forthcoming events, and
reviews of new publications by and about Roma.

In 2001, to mark the ten-year anniversary
of its founding, Romano Centro in partnership with the Bruno
Kreisky Forum for International Dialogue hosted a seminar with a
round-table discussion on the current situation of the Roma
against the background of their persecution under national
socialism. The above publication contains contributions to the
discussion by Dimitrina Petrova, director of the European Roma
Rights Center, Budapest; Istvan Szikinger, lawyer, Budapest;
Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Wippermann, Professor of Modern History at
the FU Berlin; Dr. Michael Zimmermann, lecturer in Modern
History at the Ruhr University Berlin. |
Radio Romano Centro

In the years 1997 to 2000 Romano Centro
produced the bilingual (Romanes and German) radio programme “Radio
Romano Centro”, broadcast on Medium Wave 1476. This monthly programme
provided information on topical issues relating to Roma in Europe,
their culture and traditions, it presented Roma personalities, music
and news. Between May 2000 and October 2002 Radio Romano Centro
broadcast live as part of the output of Radio Danube Dialogue (MW
1476).
